A fundraising campaign for Karmelo Anthony, the Texas teen accused of fatally stabbing fellow student Austin Metcalf, has reportedly now surpassed $150,000 as activists advocate for the narrative that the stabbing was justified.

The incident occurred during a high school track meet when Metcalf, 17, reportedly confronted Anthony about seating, leading to the fatal altercation. Anthony, also 17, has been charged with murder and allegedly admitted to police, “I did it.”

The Anthony family’s fundraiser on GiveSendGo argues that the portrayal of their son is misleading, labeling the public narrative as “false, unjust, and harmful.”

They expressed gratitude for the community support they have received. An earlier fundraising campaign for Anthony raised over $140,000 on another platform before it was removed.

This campaign described Anthony as a “respectful, well-mannered young man” with “zero criminal history.”

Activists, including Tariq Nasheed, have attempted to shift the focus, suggesting that Metcalf was a “suspected white supremacist” and framing the incident as a self-defense situation.

Nasheed’s comments insinuated that Anthony was defending himself against a perceived threat.

In contrast, a separate GoFundMe campaign for Metcalf’s family has also drawn significant support, raising over $250,000. Metcalf’s father described his son as a promising athlete with a bright future, stating that Austin carried a 4.0 GPA and was well-respected among peers.

He emphasized his son’s leadership qualities, calling him a team MVP who had aspirations in football. The father concluded with a heartfelt message, expressing admiration and love for his son.
