For the first time in his life, Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker has reportedly chosen to endorse a political candidate, Missouri Republican Sen. Josh Hawley.
The Kansas City NFL hero will be in attendance at three distinct events with Hawley on Thursday, following the senator’s email distribution to supporters regarding the Super Bowl-winning star’s endorsement.
“This is Harrison Butker-you may know me as a three-time World Champion kicker, but that’s just my day job. At my core I am a husband, a father, and most importantly a Christian who cares about the future of our nation.” Butker said in a fundraising email promoted by Hawley.
“I want to tell you about my friend Josh Hawley. In a time when our nation is at a crossroads, Senator Hawley stands strong for many of the values that matter most to me and my family.” he added.
“He’s not just a Senator; he’s a devout Christian, a family man, and a fighter for so much we hold dear. Josh Hawley is relentless in defending religious rights, fighting for the Constitution, and standing up for the most vulnerable among us—the unborn.” he continued.
Earlier this year, the Chiefs kicker gained attention when he delivered a commencement address at Benedictine College, a Catholic university in Kansas.
In the speech, he praised his wife for being a “homemaker” and criticized President Joe Biden’s support for abortion.
The comments were criticized by many leftist celebrities, and a Change.org petition was initiated to demand that the three-time Super Bowl champion be removed from the team over his defense of conservative values.
