According to a new Quinnipiac poll released on Wednesday, the Democratic Party has a dismal net popularity rating of -26 as the second Trump administration and the Republican-controlled Congress get off to a slam start.

According to the study, which was conducted from January 23 to 27 among more than 1,000 registered voters, only 31% of respondents had a positive opinion of the Democratic Party, while 57% had a negative opinion.

The figures worsen among independents, who only hold a positive opinion of the Democratic Party (22%).

Though not quite as bad as the Democrats, the Republican Party was also in the net negative favorability rating.

According to the study, 43% of respondents had a positive opinion of the Republicans, while 45% had a negative opinion. Among independents, 36% have a positive opinion of the GOP.

With 47% of respondents saying they have a good impression of Trump and 45% saying they have an unfavorable opinion, President Donald Trump has a high favorability rating.

Quinnipiac reports that 46 percent of respondents approve of Trump’s actions in his first days in office, a 10 point increase from the start of his first term.

Many respondents (23%) stated that they “haven’t heard enough” about Vice President JD Vance to form an opinion, but of those who did, 39% thought favorably of him and 36% thought unfavorably.

44% of respondents favor deporting all illegal immigrants, while the majority of Americans (60%) support Trump’s decision to send military to the southern border to halt the flow of migrants entering the country illegally.

In general, Americans have high hopes for the nation’s future under Trump.

In contrast to 42% who expressed pessimism, 54% of respondents expressed optimism over Trump’s second term.
