On a recent segment of Fox Business Network, Kevin O’Leary reportedly criticized the Trump administration for failing to deliver a coherent message regarding its trade policy, particularly concerning tariffs.

During his conversation with anchor Stuart Varney, O’Leary acknowledged the ongoing negotiations but described the situation as “chaotic” due to mixed signals from various officials within the administration.

Highlighting the complexity of trade discussions with China, O’Leary noted the need for clear communication.

He remarked that the lack of consistency among administration figures is problematic and can be easily fixed.

O’Leary emphasized that the substantial economic stakes are tied to China’s cooperation, as the country remains a crucial player in the global trade narrative.

He commented that aggressive tariffs could potentially disrupt all trade, particularly affecting technology and consumer products.

O’Leary expressed skepticism over claims that China holds leverage by possibly selling U.S. Treasury bills, arguing that such a move would strengthen the value of their currency while rendering their exports less competitive.

He stated that this would have dire implications for China’s economy, which is already facing challenges.

When asked if the U.S. holds significant negotiating advantages, O’Leary responded affirmatively, noting that a large percentage of goods produced in China are consumed by American consumers.

He asserted that if China can’t sell its products, it could lead to significant job losses domestically, which would pressure Chinese leaders to reach an agreement.

Concluding, O’Leary warned that prolonged tensions could result in rising unemployment or inflation due to China’s potential monetary policies, emphasizing the urgency for both nations to come to the negotiating table and resolve their differences.
