On a recent episode of Fox News, Kayleigh McEnany reportedly highlighted Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) as a potentially dangerous contender for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028.

This discussion arose following a Siena College poll indicating that Ocasio-Cortez is now the most popular Democrat in New York, while Senator Chuck Schumer’s favorability plummeted to a two-decade low of 39%.

Anchor Dana Perino noted the shifting dynamics among New York Democrats, suggesting that voters are seeking fresh leadership after Schumer’s long tenure.

McEnany agreed, pointing out that Schumer’s recent compromises with Republicans have alienated progressive voters, causing his decline in popularity. “She could try to unseat him, but I really think she has her eye on something bigger,” McEnany speculated, suggesting that Ocasio-Cortez might be eyeing a presidential run to succeed Bernie Sanders’ progressive mantle.

Citing data from YouGov, McEnany emphasized Ocasio-Cortez’s strong standing among Democrats, with a favorable rating of 61%, the highest for any Democrat who hasn’t yet run for president.

However, she cautioned that while Ocasio-Cortez could secure a primary victory, her appeal to centrist and independent voters remains questionable, a significant concern given the Democrats’ struggles in the last election.

McEnany also noted Ocasio-Cortez’s impressive fundraising efforts, highlighting that she raised $9.6 million in the first quarter alone, doubling her previous records.

This financial prowess, combined with her significant grassroots support, positions her as a formidable player in the upcoming political landscape.

As the political climate evolves, McEnany’s remarks serve as a reminder that Ocasio-Cortez could potentially reshape the Democratic primary race and threaten Republicans in the process, making her a candidate to watch closely in the years to come.
