Conservative commentator Glenn Beck reportedly said Monday that three FBI agents visited his home over the weekend to ask him about Antifa, the far-left movement President Donald Trump recently designated as a domestic terrorist organization.
On The Glenn Beck Program on The Blaze, Beck recounted the visit, saying the agents were sent at the direction of FBI Director Kash Patel. “So we dove in head first, and we analyzed the Antifa network and we went from the street thugs to the support groups, eventually to the funding,” Beck said. “To say the FBI was interested in this might be an understatement. Let’s just say the FBI is turning over every single stone.”
Beck said the inquiry came after he discussed Antifa’s structure and sources of support on his program last week. “It is so clear to me that they are exploring all angles of this, and they are talking to anyone and everyone that can give them any kind of information,” he said.
The conservative host described receiving a call on Saturday informing him that the FBI wanted to speak with him personally. “I get a phone call — ‘Uh, the director would like to send over some agents to speak to you, Glenn.’ And I’m like, ‘The director? FBI agents?’” Beck recalled. “They’ll be over.”
According to Beck, three agents arrived at his home and spent nearly two hours asking questions about Antifa’s organization, tactics, and sources of funding. “So they sat in my living room. Three agents sat in my room on Saturday afternoon for almost two hours,” he said. Beck said he called his researcher, Jason Buttrill, to join the conversation. “Jason, you’re the researcher, your fault. I’m gonna throw you under the bus! You better get your butt over here,” Beck joked.
Beck said the discussion focused partly on his past reporting about the Tides Foundation, which he has long accused of supporting left-wing activism. “I talked to them for about 15 minutes just going over the Tides Foundation and saying, if you understand Tides, you’ll understand how difficult your job is going to be,” he said. “And this is information that I first gave on Fox years ago.”
Antifa, short for “anti-fascist,” is a term broadly used to describe decentralized groups of left-wing activists. The Trump administration has frequently cited the movement as responsible for organizing violent protests and riots in Democratic-run cities.
Last month, President Trump signed an executive order officially designating Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization, declaring that it “uses illegal means to organize and execute a campaign of violence and terrorism nationwide.”
Beck praised the administration’s approach, crediting Patel and Trump for their willingness to investigate the movement. “Finally, we have an administration and an FBI director that is willing to go in deep, not surface, but deep,” Beck said. “I can only imagine what we could have avoided if anyone in an administration would’ve done this in 2011.”
He added that those connected to Antifa should be worried. “If I were part of anything that was sending money their way or assistance their way, I might be a little concerned because the FBI is dead-ass serious,” he said. “Thank you, thank you, thank you, Donald Trump, Kash Patel, and all of the agents at the FBI.”
