UFC superstar Conor McGregor has now reportedly announced his candidacy for President of Ireland, just days after a high-profile meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.

McGregor was among the guests at the White House for Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations, an event that stirred mixed reactions.

Following his visit, McGregor took to social media to share his political aspirations, specifically opposing a European Union immigration bill he views unfavorably.

In a post across all his social media platforms, McGregor laid out his stance against the EU Migration Pact, which Ireland must fully implement by June 12, 2026.

He detailed that various pieces of legislation would need to pass through the Oireachtas, the Irish parliament, before the deadline, noting that the next presidential election must occur by November 11, 2025.

McGregor urged his fellow citizens to consider who would stand up against government decisions regarding this bill, asserting that his candidacy would provide a voice against the government’s position. He stated, “Any other Presidential candidate they attempt to put forward will be of no resistance to them. I will!”

He emphasized that he would propose the Migration Pact to a referendum, advocating the belief that such significant matters should be determined by the people of Ireland.

This declaration marks a significant pivot in McGregor’s career from fighting in the octagon to seeking a political position.

With his high-profile platform and the backing of a dedicated fanbase, McGregor aims to bring attention to immigration issues and focus on empowering the Irish public in their choices.

His announcement has already ignited discussions within political circles as Ireland looks ahead to its upcoming elections.
