GovCNN anchor Jake Tapper was reportedly incensed when Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) referenced a “gross smear” of Trump VP pick Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) regarding claims he sexually violated a couch.
He asked his auidence, “Whatever happened to going high when they go low?”
A social media uproar was initiated by an X/Twitter user who made a false claim that Vance’s book contained a confession that he had once engaged in sexual intercourse with a sofa.
This passage does not exist in Vance’s book; however, Trump’s opponents have exploited the theme to ridicule Vance.
“So let me ask you a question because there’s this — I’m hesitant to even bring it up, but this is gross online smear about J.D. Vance involving couches, OK, and the only reason I cite it is because Governor Walz made a reference to it during his introduction speech yesterday.” Tapper said before playing the controversial clip of Walz joking about the incident, which never actually happened.
“A clear reference to this gross smear. So I mean, whatever happened to Michelle Obamas when they go low, we go higher?” Tapper remarked.
