Bill O’Reilly reportedly expressed outrage over a recent segment of 60 Minutes that he deemed “dishonest” regarding President Donald Trump.
During his appearance on NewsNation’s On Balance, O’Reilly criticized host Scott Pelley for portraying Trump as a threat to the legal system, particularly in light of Trump’s lawsuit against CBS‘s parent company, Paramount.
The 60 Minutes segment featured lawyer Marc Elias, identified as a long-time opponent of Trump, discussing the ex-president’s attacks on law firms.
O’Reilly accused the show of lacking context, noting that Elias has a controversial history, including his role in Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign and his connection to the Steele dossier.
O’Reilly argued that Pelley failed to inform viewers of Elias’s background, allowing him to present a one-sided narrative.
O’Reilly stated, “They put a guy up named Marc Elias, who spins this outrageously dishonest tale… Pelley didn’t mention it.” He criticized the segment for not including any pro-Trump legal perspectives, calling it poor journalism.
O’Reilly mockingly referred to Pelley as a “self-appointed dragon slayer,” likening him to Edward Murrow confronting McCarthyism.
Responding to O’Reilly, NewsNation’s Leland Vittert suggested that CBS has consistently shown bias against Trump. O’Reilly maintained that the segment’s approach was unacceptable for a program of 60 Minutes‘ caliber, emphasizing that it practices “deceit.”
O’Reilly’s passionate defense of Trump highlight concerns about media bias and the importance of balanced reporting, especially on a program with a significant legacy in journalism.
