In a recent episode of his “Club Random” podcast, Bill Maher reportedly issued a stern warning to the Democratic Party, suggesting that their alignment with “woke” ideologies might lead them to become an “irrelevant party.”

Maher’s comments followed his dinner with President Donald Trump at the White House, where he described Trump as “gracious” but criticized some of his views.

During the podcast, Maher lamented the hold that “true believers” of the woke movement have within the party, comparing them to those still adhering to outdated practices, such as wearing masks post-pandemic.

He indicated that these fervent supporters could potentially alienate mainstream voters, leading to the Democrats’ decline in relevance.

Calling for a return to centrism, Maher urged the party to shed what he termed “woke baggage.”

He positioned himself as an “old school liberal,” suggesting that today’s woke culture contrasts sharply with classic liberal principles of colorblindness and equality.

According to Maher, the emphasis on identity politics among woke Democrats runs counter to the ideals of liberalism, asserting that the new approach does not promote unity but rather division based on racial lines.

He cautioned that liberalism’s trajectory could be jeopardized if the party doesn’t shift its stance away from extreme woke narratives.

Maher’s insightful critique reflects a broader concern regarding how certain factions within the party could hinder their appeal, especially in an ever-evolving political landscape.

As the Democrats grapple with internal divisions, Maher’s remarks serve as a candid reminder of the need for adaptability and a reevaluation of priorities to remain competitive.
