Monica Medina, the wife of White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, has now been named America’s first Special Envoy for ‘Biodiversity and Water Resources.’
Medina was already the assistant secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, and she would take on the envoy duties in addition to her present duties, thus essentially enabling her to essentially draw two salaries.

Monica Medina was named the United States’ first female ambassador to ‘plants and animals’ According to a press release from the Department of State, a Special Envoy for Biodiversity and Water Resources will be appointed to address the world’s linked biodiversity and water issues.
Medina’s new position dovetails nicely with the Biden administration’s concern about species that are now threatened by the coming so-called “climate catastrophe.”
Medina wife will lead an “all-government campaign” to promote their interests overseas.
Medina and the department will reportedly try to crack down on “nature crime” such as unlawful mining and logging with the aim of protecting biodiversity and keep water sources clean.
The special envoy will also attempt to carry out the White House’s new water security strategy and its Global Water Strategy, both of which aim to prevent droughts throughout the world without raising greenhouse gas emissions.

The ambassador will also represent the United States in global climate conventions such as the United Nations (UN) Water Conference in 2023.
According to the UN, the Biden administration’s selection comes ahead of the Montreal UN Biodiversity Conference, which will take place in December. The summit was meant to be held in China in 2020 but was put back owing of the COVID-19 epidemic.
