More than 140 past and present South Carolina political leaders have endorsed Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), the senator’s 2024 presidential campaign reportedly announced on Monday.
Former Republican Representative Henry Brown, state Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey, and state House Majority Whip Brandon Newton have all endorsed Scott.
Given that South Carolina is an early presidential primary state and that former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley, who previously served two terms as governor of the Palmetto State, is competing for GOP support there, the endorsements from Scott’s home state are particularly notable.
Several well-known endorsements from 16 mayors of cities and municipalities from all throughout the state are included in the list of backers.

Six House Republicans from the state have already endorsed Haley, including Ralph Norman, while former President Trump has the support of Reps. Joe Wilson, William Timmons, and Russell Fry.
Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina (R) has already declared his support for Trump.
Scott spoke on a number of subjects that are anticipated to shape the 2024 election at the announcement of his numerous endorsements. The senator spoke on immigration, the southern border, ties with China, and growing the economy.
