Following the publication of his report criticizing the FBI’s conduct of its inquiries into the 2016 Trump campaign and Russia, special counsel John Durham is reportedly scheduled to appear before Congress next month.
In May 2019, Durham received a mandate to look into Crossfire Hurricane, the FBI’s 2016 probe into Trump-Russia collusion, and any connected operations.
In order to safeguard the investigation when the White House changed hands from former President Donald Trump to President Joe Biden, Durham was granted special counsel status by former Attorney General Bill Barr in December 2020.
Following last week’s publication of a 306-page report detailing Durham’s conclusions by the Department of Justice, Durham concluded his approximately four-year inquiry.
According to the report, the FBI pursued a biased probe into Trump while ignoring its mission and guiding principles.
Jim Jordan (R-OH), the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, promptly requested that Durham speak on his probe.
Jordan stated on Sunday that his committee will review the report and seek out any information that would help provide a more complete picture of the FBI’s internal operations.
