Dr. Robert Redfield, a former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States, reportedly stated on Wednesday that research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology that led to the creation of COVID was financed by the US government using taxpayer cash.
Redfield doubled down on his history of disputing the collective narrative that COVID transmitted from a bat to a human naturally and further testified that scientific research indicates that one of the most infectious viruses ever that impacted nearly seven million lives globally likely leaked from the Chinese Communist Party run-lab in the central Chinese city of Wuhan.
Redfield was testifying before the House Oversight Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY), responding to concerns made by other members of the panel on the origins of COVID, questioned the probability that American tax dollars were used to pay the gain of function research that resulted in the creation of the virus.

Dr. Redfield was given the job of director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) by former President Donald Trump in 2018, and he served in that capacity until 2021, when President Joseph Biden was inaugurated.
After authorities from the United States Energy Department updated a document in which they determined with “low confidence” that the virus had spilled from a Chinese facility, Republicans in the House planned a hearing on the matter.
An updated report on the pandemic’s origins that was produced in 2021 by the office of the Director of National Intelligence, Avril Haines, revealed that Energy Department officials had changed their assessment of where the pandemic originated.
This information was recently provided to the White House and key members of Congress.
The most recent version of the secret study supports the idea that COVID did not originate from a program to develop biological weapons.
Researchers and authorities from the United States assume that a leak occurred within Wuhan’s collection of laboratories due to the absence of a clear animal source.
A new memo was pushed by the subcommittee on Sunday, which claimed that new evidence suggests that Dr. Anthony Fauci of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases prompted the drafting of the Proximal Origin narrative to disprove the lab leak theory.
Redfield dismissed the Proximal Origin narrative as an “inaccurate paper” that was created to rally behind a constructed and false narrative that the virus’ genesis emerged naturally from a wet market in Wuhan.
Fauci and at least 12 other scientists, including the former director of the National Institute of Health, Dr. Francis Collins, were reportedly first warned the virus possibly leaked from a lab in the central Chinese city of Wuhan on a conference call during the early days of the pandemic, according to the evidence that was reviewed by the members of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, which was led by the Republican Party.
Redfield stated that he believes Fauci and Collins purposefully excluded him from conference calls with other health authorities to explore the origins of the virus. Redfield said he believes this was done intentionally.
In an interview with Politico, Fauci categorically denied the allegations that Redfield had made, without offering any evidence to refute his claims however.
