Laura Loomer, one of President Trump’s most outspoken allies, announced Thursday that she is stepping away from her political show, just days after unleashing a torrent of social media posts over Republicans’ crushing midterm defeat.
In a post on X, Loomer said she would pause her twice-weekly livestream, “Loomer Unleashed,” explaining that she had been running on empty for too long.
She said her family, personal life, upcoming wedding and the simple act of having a life outside her work had all been put on hold. According to other reports, she said she had been working as much as 18 hours on some days and later described the break as lasting one to two months.
Loomer stressed that she isn’t going away entirely. She said she would keep paying attention, fully support President Trump, comment on breaking news and continue her research, but would not be hosting her show for a while. In a follow-up post, she said she would use the time to redesign her studio and prepare coverage and opposition research for 2027 and 2028 ahead of the next presidential election season.
The announcement came barely 48 hours after Democrats swept control of both chambers of Congress, dealing a major blow to Trump halfway through his second term.
Loomer reacted to the results with an extraordinary posting spree, publishing 119 messages on X in less than 28 hours, according to a Newsweek analysis. That works out to roughly one post every 14 minutes. Newsweek counted more than 4,300 words across the posts.
During the barrage, Loomer declared that America was over and predicted widespread political violence and terrorism following the Democratic victories, though Newsweek noted she offered no evidence for those claims. She had attended an election night watch party for Trump-endorsed Byron Donalds, who won Florida’s governor’s race.
Her hiatus also followed a public clash with Trump adviser Alex Bruesewitz, who is behind much of the president’s digital media strategy. After the election, Bruesewitz suggested that Republican candidates should stop taking messaging advice from fringe right-wing influencers, and in a tense exchange on X, accused Loomer of being paid for social media posts. Loomer did not directly respond to that accusation, instead accusing Bruesewitz of having ties to the Qatari government.
Loomer’s Rumble-based show launched in 2023 and has featured interviews with figures including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. She has built a large following through confrontational commentary and her close relationship with Trump, who praised her in October as a great Republican strategist.
She closed her announcement with a promise to her followers that she would return when the time is right.
