Conservative commentator Tim Pool delivered a stark warning to Republicans on Fox News this week, telling host Jesse Watters that the GOP may have lost a generation of young men, and that many of them are now actively hostile to the party.

Appearing Thursday, Pool was asked by Watters how Republicans could win back young men after Tuesday’s midterm rout, in which Democrats took control of both the House and Senate.

“I’m not sure they do, and it’s worse than people realize,” Pool said.

Pool claimed that young white men ages 18 to 29 without college degrees swung 40 points toward Democrats. He argued the shift is not because they have suddenly embraced socialism, but because many of them want to burn the Republican Party down.

According to Pool, those voters see today’s Republicans as no different from Democrats. He pointed to Trump coming out in defense of illegal immigrants as an example of what has turned them against the party, saying their attitude is that Republicans no longer support America.

Pool also pushed back on the idea that voters can simply be persuaded to switch parties every election cycle. He argued that today’s young voters formed their political views over the past decade, many during their early teens. A first-time voter this year, he noted, was just 12 years old during the COVID pandemic in 2020.

Preliminary data from Tufts University suggests a dramatic shift among young voters. The analysis found that 61% of white voters ages 18 to 29 backed Democratic House candidates, compared with 36% for Republicans. That is a striking reversal from 2024, when Trump won 54% of young white voters. The data also showed 59% of young men and 71% of young Latino voters supported Democrats.

Watters himself had sounded the alarm the day before. On Wednesday, he declared that the Republican coalition had totally collapsed, expressing disbelief that the party had lost ground with white voters, men and Hispanics. He noted that voters under 30 swung roughly 32 points to the left and pointed out that this younger generation is about as large as the baby boomers.

In a monologue Thursday night, Watters called for a full Republican autopsy, warning that Democrats are on pace for the biggest midterm landslide since Watergate. He also cautioned that if Texas stays blue, Republicans may never win the White House again.

Pool’s comments add to a growing chorus of voices on the right questioning how the party lost so much ground so quickly. With two years until the next presidential election, Republicans now face the difficult task of figuring out whether those voters can be won back at all.
