Lara Trump told Fox News anchor John Roberts on Tuesday that Democrats should not get too confident heading into the 2026 midterms, arguing the polls are likely undercounting Republican voters by a wide margin.

Roberts pointed to a shift in sentiment among rural voters, noting that 63% of them backed President Donald Trump, Lara Trump’s father-in-law, in 2024. Support for the GOP among that group has since fallen to 49%.

“That’s a change of 14 points to the negative,” Roberts said.

He also flagged a drop among Hispanic voters. Forty-three percent supported Trump in 2024, while support for the GOP now stands at 31%, a 12-point decline.

Roberts asked whether the shift was being driven by policy, or by the fact that the president is not on the ballot even though he is out campaigning every day.

“Well, he says to vote like he’s on the ballot, so I’ll remind everyone of that for sure,” Lara Trump responded.

She pointed to recent reports showing that many rural and Republican voters do not trust the polling industry, adding that a lot of them no longer even answer pollsters because they believe the system is “totally broken.”

“So I don’t know that those numbers are totally accurate,” she said.

Lara Trump noted that voters have seen what the polls said in 2016 and 2024, as well as what they are saying now, but argued that turnout is what will ultimately decide the election. She also suggested polls likely influence whether people show up to vote or stay home.

“I think the establishment in the polling industry overall really doesn’t understand the connection that Donald Trump has with voters,” she said. “And they have never tried to understand him.”

She said pollsters often “miss the mark” and predicted that on November 4th, there could be “a huge disparity” between the polling numbers and the actual results.

Roberts said many people, including Democrats he has spoken with, believe Democrats are being oversampled in a lot of polls, adding that it remains to be seen whether the surveys prove accurate.

The anchor then turned to the president’s campaign blitz this week, which included stops in Kansas on Monday and North Carolina on Tuesday, followed by South Carolina, Iowa, Florida, Georgia and Michigan through Sunday. Roberts asked why the president would need to spend time in states like Kansas, South Carolina and Florida.

“Well, look, he leaves nothing up to chance. And this is a workhorse of a president. Donald Trump is a machine,” Lara Trump said, noting that people who have worked with him across several campaigns have said as much.

She explained that the president is willing to go anywhere he believes he can make an impact and drive up turnout. Lara Trump added that she hopes to bring her kids to one of the upcoming rallies in Florida.

“You are never going to have a president like Donald Trump. There’s no one who’s ever campaigned like he does,” she said, calling the rallies historic and urging Americans to attend.

She said the president wants to “work to the bitter end” and leave “absolutely nothing on the table and nothing to chance.”
