MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, a longtime supporter of President Donald Trump, told supporters during a Zoom call that the president looked “about as tired as I’ve seen him.”
Lindell, who received Trump’s backing in his bid for governor of Minnesota this cycle, lost the GOP primary and immediately called for a recount. Lindell, who has long disputed election results, fielded questions from supporters during the call. Video of the exchange was shared online by Aaron Rupar, a Minnesota native known for posting viral clips.
One man on the call asked Lindell how both he and the president were holding up.
“Another question: how is the president doing, and how are you doing? You look tired,” the man said, adding, in profane terms, that Lindell looked exhausted. “I’m not gonna lie, you’re with friends, but you do.”
The supporter then turned to the president.
“And I know every time I see the president going up and talking, I see he seems really, really exhausted, too,” he continued. “That’s my question, and take care of yourself, please.”
Lindell responded by describing the president’s demeanor.
“He looked about as tired as I’ve seen him,” Lindell said. “He was very… and I don’t, I don’t want to say the word ‘down.’”
The MyPillow CEO quickly pushed back on that characterization.
“He never gets, him and I… we don’t get down, but he did seem…” Lindell said, before pointing to the president’s packed campaign schedule.
“But he’s got to realize he’s on these rallies. I mean, he just, just one after another after another,” he added.
Lindell’s comments come as the president has drawn attention in the closing weeks of the campaign for some moves that critics have called off-message.
Trump’s recent decision to reduce sanctions on Russia sparked criticism from across the political spectrum, as did his attacks on Ukraine’s leadership.
The president’s endorsement of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the weekend also drew pushback from some members of his MAGA base.
Meanwhile, a new poll is showing the president at a low point in public approval.
CNN’s Harry Enten reported Tuesday on a new Reuters/Ipsos poll that found Trump with a 31% approval rating.
“Trump’s approval rating hits an all-time low,” Enten said.
Enten compared the latest numbers to where the president stood when his term began.
“You know, at the beginning of his term, he was plus six. He was two thumbs up,” Enten said. “And now we’re talking minus-35 points, the worst he has ever been in the Reuters-Ipsos poll.”
The numbers were even worse among independent voters. Enten noted that the president was “54 points underwater” with that group.
The poll arrives as Trump continues his busy rally schedule ahead of Election Day, a pace Lindell suggested may be taking a toll on the president.
