White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain is set to depart in the coming weeks, marking the most major resignation in the Biden administration since President Joe Biden entered office two years ago.
Klain has been telling colleagues privately that he intends to retire since the midterm elections, according to the New York Times.
Since then, a hunt for his replacement has been ongoing.
It’s unclear whether a replacement has already been chosen or when Klain will formally quit.
However, insiders informed the site that it would most likely be unveiled soon after Biden announces his program for the next year during his State of the Union speech next month.
Klain has been Biden’s chief of staff since the president took office in 2021, the longest tenure of any Democratic president’s first head of staff in in than 50 years.
