Dilbert creator and longtime political commentator Scott Adams delivered a stark health update to his audience on New Year’s Day, telling viewers that his latest visit to the radiologist brought nothing but bad news and that his chances of recovery are “essentially zero.”

Speaking on his Rumble program, Adams said doctors have given him no reason for optimism. “The odds of me recovering are essentially zero,” he said, adding that he would update his audience if that assessment ever changed, though he made clear he does not expect it to.

Adams has been open for months about his battle with metastasized prostate cancer, offering frequent and often candid updates to his followers. On Thursday, he said his condition has continued to worsen, revealing that he no longer has feeling in his legs and is dealing with what he described as ongoing heart failure.

The cartoonist also referenced his public plea last November, when he asked President Donald Trump to help him obtain a cancer medication he said he desperately needed. Trump responded quickly at the time, and Adams was able to receive the treatment. However, Adams said in December that the effort had run into a roadblock, limiting its effectiveness or availability.

Despite the gravity of his situation, Adams maintained the same calm and often darkly humorous tone that has characterized many of his recent broadcasts. On Thursday, he said he plans to act as though nothing is happening, arguing that it is easier than people might expect. He told viewers he intends to keep working on Dilbert and his other projects for as long as he is able.

Adams said he will rely on painkillers and what he described as “massive amounts” of marijuana to stay productive. He joked that marijuana helps him enter what he called “The Stupor Zone,” a mental state in which it becomes easier for him to focus and work despite his physical condition.

During the broadcast, Adams also paused to ask his audience if anyone had heard an update on Victor Davis Hanson, a fellow right-leaning commentator who announced last week that he was undergoing surgery for what he described as a serious medical problem. Adams said he hoped Hanson was doing better than he was.

Beyond his work as a cartoonist, Adams has been a prominent political voice for years. He was among the earliest commentators to publicly support Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign and has remained a loyal MAGA supporter since. As recently as November, Adams referred to Trump as the “best president ever.”

Looking ahead, Adams warned his fans that January would likely be a month “of transition, one way or another” for him. He closed by thanking his supporters for their concern and continued attention as he faces the latest stage of his battle with cancer.
