Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) brushed off recent claims from Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) that the Georgia Republican is on a “revenge tour” within her own party, calling the remarks little more than political gossip from an unaccomplished critic.
Speaking on NewsNation’s The Hill on Wednesday night, Greene rejected Ocasio-Cortez’s assertion that she harbors ambitions to run for the U.S. Senate in Georgia. “I don’t want to go serve somewhere where all of my good ideas and bills I want to work on get completely stopped in a system that I think is utter failure,” Greene told host Blake Burman. “I don’t want to go serve somewhere where all good things go to die.”
Ocasio-Cortez had made her accusation during an Instagram livestream earlier in the week, claiming, “Marjorie Taylor Greene wanted to run for Senate in Georgia. … Trump said no, and the White House and ‘Trump land’ shut down Marjorie Taylor Greene’s personal ambitions to run for Senate, and she has been on a revenge tour ever since.” Greene dismissed the statement as “gossip,” adding, “I don’t respect her very much. She’s never accomplished anything in life, other than being a member of Congress, so I don’t really know what she has to offer other than gossip, but people are tired of that.”
Greene suggested that jealousy may have motivated Ocasio-Cortez’s comments, referencing her own recent appearance on ABC’s The View, a show based in Ocasio-Cortez’s home state. “The other problem with AOC is I think she’s really jealous that I came into her home state, stomped around, and actually had a great conversation with the ladies on The View,” Greene said.
During that appearance, Greene stood by her continued support for President Donald Trump, even as she has voiced frustration with the Republican establishment in Congress. “I think it’s good to have conversations with the other side and have respectful conversations,” she said on NewsNation, emphasizing that Americans “are sick and tired of political drama” and “fed up with the toxic culture that we have.”
Greene also pushed back on a recent report from NOTUS suggesting that she has privately discussed a possible 2028 White House run. “People are tired of lies like that article you brought up,” she said. “Tired of stupid attacks like AOC’s video.”
Her comments underscored a broader frustration among conservatives with what they view as an increasingly hostile and personality-driven political climate. Greene, who has built her profile as a fierce advocate for the America First movement, has argued that voters want results, not rumors.
By turning down speculation about her political ambitions and reaffirming her loyalty to Trump, Greene positioned herself as a figure focused on reforming Congress rather than climbing its ranks. “I don’t want to go somewhere that kills good ideas,” she reiterated. “People want truth, not gossip.”
