President Donald Trump reportedly had sharp words Tuesday for former White House aide and current co-host of The View Alyssa Farah Griffin, dismissing her credibility and calling the ABC daytime show “a fraud” after Griffin praised his role in securing the release of Israeli hostages but failed to follow through on a public promise to wear a MAGA hat.

Griffin, who worked in Trump’s administration before turning into one of his most outspoken critics on television, had said earlier this year that she would don a MAGA hat if Trump successfully brought home all Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

On Monday, the 20 remaining hostages were released under the first phase of Trump’s new Middle East peace deal, which also included the withdrawal of Israeli troops to a designated defensive line.

Following the release, Griffin said Trump and his administration deserved “tremendous credit” for the achievement — but she has not yet appeared on air wearing the red cap.

Asked by a reporter about Griffin’s remarks, Trump did not hold back. “I’ll tell you about Alyssa,” he said. “She worked here, she gave me the most beautiful letter when the time came up, the election was rigged, I left. She gave me the most beautiful letter you’ve ever seen. I was ‘a great president. What a great job.’”

The president claimed that Griffin continued to send him notes praising his leadership even after leaving the White House. “Some of the letters have been quoted — this is Alyssa, who I never thought was very outstanding. I figured she would not make it. And she didn’t have a big role here either,” Trump said. “And then we had January 6 and she left after that or before that. But she gave me the most beautiful letters. And even the months after she left and while we weren’t here any longer, she sent other letters. [A] glowing letter, [a] beautiful letter. And then she got hired by The View and they gave her a couple of bucks and she changed her view very quickly.”

“I never thought she would make it,” Trump continued. “I never thought she had what it took in any way. But she’s on The View. But it just shows what a fraud The View is.”

Griffin, 35, served as press secretary to then–Vice President Mike Pence and later as a special assistant to Trump from 2017 to 2019, before taking a post as press secretary at the Department of Defense. She left government service in 2021 and soon joined The View, where she has become a frequent critic of her former boss.

On the ABC program, Griffin has described Trump as “wholly unfit” for office and has said she voted for former Vice President Kamala Harris in the previous election. On Election Day, she called Trump “the most dangerous man” ever to serve as president.
