Ana Cabrera, a CNN daytime anchor, is poised to depart the network and join NBC News.
This according to three individuals familiar with the situation.
Cabrera will become the latest in a long line of CNN employees to defect to the NBCUniversal news division.
Cabrera currently hosts CNN’s 1 p.m. hour, after serving weekend anchor stints and as a Denver reporter for the Warner Bros. Discovery-backed station since 2013.
The announcement comes after CNN’s political analyst Chris Cillizza was sacked on Thursday as part of a huge shakeup at the corporation. Alison Kiosk, Martin Savidge, Alex Field, and Mary Ann Fox are among the other journalists who have been recently sacked.

Cillizza’s firing comes only one day after CEO Chris Licht stated layoffs will take place over the next few days. The management stated that they will notify employees of their terminations, with the majority of them being paid contributors.
Cabrera formerly worked as an anchor at KMGH, Denver’s ABC station. Cabrera worked as an anchor and reporter for NBC station KHQ and FOX affiliate KAYU in Spokane, Washington, between 2005 and 2009. Cabrera began her broadcasting career as an intern for CBS affiliates KCNC and KMGH in Denver.
CNN has been slashing expenditures since WarnerMedia was purchased by Discovery, and has begun to scale back its objectives in original documentary programs, canceling its failed CNN+ streaming service, and is now in the process of laying off employees.
