On a recent episode of her podcast, former Fox News star Megyn Kelly declared that the Met Gala is “dead,” criticizing the event for its decline in relevance and quality.

She expressed her disdain for the fashion choices at this year’s gala, where the theme was “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” and accused attendees of indulging in “leftist academic gobbledygook.”

Kelly specifically targeted musician Lalisa Manobal, known as Lisa, for her controversial outfit, which featured an embroidered likeness of civil rights icon Rosa Parks on her underwear.

Kelly remarked, “Civil rights icon Rosa Parks reduced to a vagina cover,” highlighting her discomfort with the way Parks’s legacy was represented.

She went on to argue that the Met Gala, once a pinnacle of high fashion and celebrity culture, has deteriorated into a “D-list” event, resembling a “nerd prom” rather than the glamorous affair it used to be.

She expressed frustration with the gala’s current state, stating, “It’s closer to today’s nerd prom than the center of the celeb and beauty universe.”

Kelly also mocked the theme of the gala, questioning its meaning and suggesting that attendees were not meant to understand it.

She characterized the event as lacking substance and relevance, emphasizing her belief that it no longer serves as a significant cultural touchstone.

In response to the backlash over the Parks imagery, a representative for the artist who collaborated with Lisa clarified that the embroidered faces were drawn from the artist’s personal life and did not specifically reference Rosa Parks.

Nonetheless, Kelly’s comments reflect a broader critique of how cultural icons are represented in contemporary fashion and media.
