Alina Habba, a prominent lawyer for President Donald Trump, has now reportedly retracted her previous support for controversial influencer Andrew Tate.
In a recent interview with Jan Jekielek of the Epoch Times, Habba described the allegations against Tate and his brother as “stomach-churning” and “disturbing,” emphasizing that such matters are for the court to address.
Habba’s comments come after she had previously declared herself a “big fan” of Tate during an appearance on Benny Johnson’s podcast in January.
At that time, she expressed enthusiasm about meeting him and praised his outspoken nature. However, she now claims that it was “great manipulation” to suggest she was a fan, distancing herself from her earlier remarks.
The legal issues facing Tate include serious allegations of sex trafficking and the sexual assault of minors.
Habba controversially compared these accusations to the political prosecutions faced by Trump, arguing that both men share similar frustrations with the legal system.
She encouraged Tate to keep fighting, suggesting that he and Trump are both under siege.
Habba’s defense of Tate drew criticism from Daily Wire editor Ben Shapiro, who urged conservative audiences to distance themselves from Tate, labeling him as an “evil con artist.”
Shapiro highlighted Tate’s inconsistent messaging, describing him as a manipulative figure who caters to various audiences, from anti-feminist circles to extremist groups.
Following the lifting of travel restrictions, Tate and his brother have returned to the U.S., where a criminal investigation in Florida is currently underway.
Habba’s retraction and the surrounding controversy reflect the broader tensions within conservative circles regarding Tate’s influence and the serious nature of the allegations against him.
