According to a new report, the United States Department of State may soon grant a contract for $400 million to Elon Musk’s electric vehicle company for a so-called “armored Tesla.”

According to Drop Site News, the software mogul, who is presently working for President Donald Trump to reduce the number of government jobs, departments, and contracts, may be able to benefit from a significant one in the months to come.

Tesla is listed as the recipient of the highest planned contract in the State Department’s procurement projection, which was revised as of late December 2024.

The Department of State intends to purchase “Armored Teslas” worth a total of $400,000,000.

The prize is anticipated to be given out in the fourth quarter, and it is anticipated that it will be given out for a period of five years.

On the procurement plan, it is stated that the modification occurred on December 13, 2024, which is one month after the election of Donald Trump at the time.

After receiving a request for comment, the State Department did not immediately respond to the request for comment.

In the meantime, SpaceX and Tesla have been awarded a total of $18 billion in federal contracts since the year 2015, with the majority of these government contracts going to Musk’s space technology business.

Last week, the press secretary for the White House, Karoline Leavitt, stated that Musk will take precautions to prevent any potential conflicts of interest, but she did not elaborate on how he would do so.

It was intimated by Leavitt that Musk was operating on an honor system in this regard.

During a recent conversation with reporters, Musk discussed his working relationship with President Trump in the White House.

A journalist pointed out that he had been the recipient of billions of dollars’ worth of government contracts.
