Despite the fact that the Trump administration is currently considering closing down the Department of Education, a Gallup poll that was issued on Wednesday indicated that there is a record low level of satisfaction with public education.
24 percent of respondents to the annual Mood of the Nation survey are pleased with public education, while 73 percent are dissatisfied with it.
This represents the lowest level of dissatisfaction since the poll was first conducted in 2001.
When opposed to the thirty percent of Democrats who are content with public education, only sixteen percent of Republicans are either somewhat or extremely satisfied with it.
In light of the aims of the Trump administration, the results come at a time when there is a debate over the future of public education and how it will affect the future.
There is a high probability that the president will adopt executive actions in the future with the intention of weakening the Department of Education, with the ultimate goal of eliminating it entirely in the future.
Something that has been an ultimate goal of many conservatives for years.
Additionally, President Trump has signed an executive order that instructs the federal government to prioritize and assist states in accessing federal monies for the purpose of assisting school choice initiatives.
