Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, reportedly slammed Gavin Newsom, the Democratic governor of California, when Newsom proposed a new regulation that would prevent Tesla from receiving discounts that are granted to other electric car manufacturers in the state.
In a statement that was released on Monday, Newsom stated that he would propose the creation of a new version of California’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Program in the event that President-elect Donald Trump eliminates a federal ZEV tax credit.
This program had previously expired in 2023.
Even though Tesla is the only company who manufactures their EVs in California!
This is insane. https://t.co/EhVeG2TYqT

According to Bloomberg News, Newsom’s office noted that the present proposal has market-share constraints that would exclude Tesla’s popular electric vehicle models.
Additionally, Newsom’s office stated that the idea is about creating the market conditions for more of these automobile manufacturers to take root.
Those models manufactured by Tesla are eligible for the federal credit, which was included in the Inflation Reduction Act, which is President Joe Biden’s flagship piece of legislation regarding climate change.
As a result of shelter-in-place orders, Musk was forced to close his one and only automobile manufacturing in the United States in May of 2020.
Musk then threatened to remove himself from the state of California.
Midway through the month of May in the year 2020, he expressed his dissatisfaction with the leftist rule of California, and he appeared to be encouraging followers on Twitter to become conservatives.
AB 1955 was signed into law by Newsom in the middle of July.
This law prohibited school districts from informing parents about their children’s sexuality, as well as if their children used pronouns or had established gender identities that were in conflict with those that were recorded on their school records.
Musk recalled that he had previously cautioned Newsom in 2023 that if the bill were to be implemented, it would compel people and businesses to flee the state of California in order to protect their children.
