On Tuesday, Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, appeared on Fox & Friends and disparaged George Clooney and other Democrats.
Clooney expressed his complete support for Vice President Kamala Harris in the wake of President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from his reelection campaign.
Portnoy joined Fox News after he took to social media and ranting shirtless in a captain’s helmet that Democrats had “hijacked” democracy by moving Harris to the top of the ticket.
“Well, first thing, that Clooney quote… has he wiped the blood off the knife yet? I mean, that is unbelievable. He’s saving democracy by stepping — you assassinated, in a political sense, Biden,” Portnoy said.
“By the way, I don’t think George Clooney gets to endorse anybody. George Clooney’s voting. When you’re a labor union or the teachers union or police department union, you can endorse somebody. When you’re just a single guy, you’re just voting for somebody. You’re endorsing him; what does that mean?” he continued.
Although the vice president is not officially the party’s nominee, she has secured an adequate number of delegates.
Clooney reportedly consulted with Barack Obama before calling for Biden to stand aside, which drew more attention to concerns about his age and stamina.
Portnoy held Clooney and other Democrats accountable for the removal of Biden and their failure to capitalize on the opportunity to alter the ticket.
Portnoy asserted that he would have supported a Democratic candidate if they had selected a new candidate for the election.
“I’m not an automatic write-in [Donald] Trump guy. If I liked the Democratic candidate, I would have been interested in seeing what they have to say, but they didn’t even give anybody that opportunity,” he continued.
