Amid worries over Joe Biden’s status as the Democratic party’s presumed contender for the White House, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) stated in an interview on Wednesday that she doesn’t think “it would hurt” for the president to undergo a cognitive test.
“I don’t think that it’d hurt, to be honest,” Whitmer said when asked whether she believes President Biden should undergo a cognitive test.
Following his appalling performance in the debate late last month and several allegations regarding his apparent decline in recent months, Biden has been under increasing pressure to submit to cognitive testing and make the results public.
Public documents revealed that a neurologist with expertise in Parkinson’s illness had visited the White House, which only served to heighten concerns.
Since then, the administration has stated that the aforementioned doctor has served as the White House Medical Unit’s neurology consultant for over ten years.
Biden and Trump should be subjected to cognitive testing, according to Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), and former GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley has also argued that lawmakers above a specific age should be subject to these exams.
