Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is now reportedly reaffirming her determination to remove Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), asserting that his tenure in the leadership role is limited as House members anticipate a probable privileged vote on a motion to vacate.
Last month, Greene submitted a proposal to dismiss Johnson, alleging that he exceeded his authority by conducting a vote on providing further aid to Ukraine.
Two additional Republican legislators have already expressed their support for the proposal, which would be sufficient to oust the Speaker if all Democrats align with her.
However, Democrats have typically been hostile to her initiative.
Last Monday, President Biden approved the $95 billion foreign aid supplemental, which allocated approximately $61 billion specifically for Ukraine relief.
The majority of the expenditure was allocated towards replenishing the inventory of weapons and war materials.
“Permanent funding for Ukraine is exactly what they want and Mike Johnson will give it to them. Peace is not an option for them because it doesn’t fit the government appropriations war business and economic model, which is vile and disgusting.” she wrote in a post on X.
“They’re plan is keep funding the proxy war with Russia in Ukraine and when that doesn’t work, after all the Ukrainian men have been slaughtered, next they will put American troops on the ground. Johnson will do whatever Biden/Schumer want in order to keep the Speaker’s gavel in his hand, but he has completely sold out the Republican voters who gave us the majority.” Greene continued.

“His days as Speaker are numbered,” she concluded.
Although Greene has proposed a motion to vacate, it has not been voted on yet since she has not designated the proposal as privileged.
Given that there are no essential items on the House schedule this week, a conflict regarding Johnson’s job may arise in the near future.
Johnson’s choice to approve the foreign aid package, relenting after a prolonged confrontation with Democrats, has earned him commendation from both sides of the political spectrum.
It remains uncertain if a sufficient number of Democrats would support a motion to vacate, so jeopardizing his position.
Former President Trump’s endorsement of Johnson has placed any Republicans considering supporting the initiative in a challenging position, as they may find themselves against the party’s most influential and well supported figure.
Regardless of the result, a conflict over the Speaker position would probably exacerbate the already fragile state of the GOP House majority, which currently sits at only one vote due to a series of early retirements.
