According to the United States Capitol Police, an incident was reported in the Rayburn House Office Building just before six o’clock in the evening by the office of a member of Congress, who was later identified as Mace throughout the investigation.
Officers from the House division and agents from the Threat Assessment Section of the police department were able to locate the suspect, who was later determined to be James McIntyre, a resident of Illinois who is 33 years old.
After conducting an interview with McIntyre, the police ultimately decided to arrest him on the grounds that he had assaulted a government official.
A number of people, including Mace, have expressed their disagreement with the practice of transgender people using restrooms that are not designated for their biological gender.
Sarah McBride, a Democrat from Delaware, was elected to the House of Representatives, and she headed the push against permitting her to use the toilets reserved for women on Capitol Hill.
Although he is a biological male, McBride identifies as a female and presents himself as such.
In addition, Mace was the author of resolution H.R. 1579, which would make it illegal for members, officers, and staff of the House of Representatives to utilize facilities that are not similar to those that correspond to their biological identities.
