In the course of a conversation concerning the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson and the subsequent arrest of the individual who is accused of killing him, Joe Rogan referred to the health insurance industry as a “dirty, dirty business.”
Suspect Luigi Mangione, age 26, has been taken into custody and charged with the murder of Thompson, which was captured on film in the state of New York.
Regarding the health insurance sector, the homicide has stirred debate, with some individuals even rushing to the support of the individual who is suspected of murdering the victim.
It has been stated that Mangione was experiencing problems as a result of a back operation.
During this week’s episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Rogan was joined by filmmakers Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary for a lengthy conversation that primarily focused on movies, but also touched on the murder of Thompson and the incident that occurred on January 6th at the Capitol.
“I think this guy, if I had to guess, was some guy who got fucked over. Apparently, that company is really bad at denying claims.” Rogan said.
The denial rates of health insurance companies were out of control, according to Avary, who concurred with Rogan’s assessment.
“I don’t think anybody is, like, going to be crying too hard over [Thompson],” Avary said.
“Maybe his family, but that’s about it,” Rogan said.
The Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations (PSI) of the United States Senate, which is comprised of Democrats, published a report in October stating that the refusal rate for post-acute care by UnitedHealthcare increased by more than twofold between the years 2020 and 2022.
According to reports, the corporation rejected approximately one third of the claims, which is a larger percentage than their rivals.
“It’s a dirty, dirty business. The business of insurance is fucking gross. It’s gross, especially health care insurance. It’s f*cking gross.” Rogan concluded.
