John Fetterman (D-PA) is under fire for aggressively criticizing voters in his own state. Recently, the Associated Press declared Republican Dave McCormick the victor in Pennsylvania’s tightly contested Senate race, although Senator Bob Casey has yet to concede defeat.
Fetterman took to X to urge voters to remain patient as the final ballots were counted, and in an unexpected move, he harshly criticized Green Party supporters.
“Pennsylvania is going to count every last vote. That’s not controversial- that’s the law,” he tweeted before adding, “Also, Green dip****s’ votes helping elect the GOP,” accompanied by a picture of the Green Party candidate.

The remark suggests Fetterman believes that if fewer voters had supported the Green Party candidate Leila Hazou, Casey might have secured a win. Hazou drew just over over 64,000 votes in the race.
“We still have tens of thousands of votes to be counted across the Commonwealth,” Fetterman posted while denying McCormick’s win. “[The Associated Press] shouldn’t make a call in this race until every Pennsylvanian has their vote counted.”
Despite 98 percent of votes being tallied, McCormick holds a 37,000-vote lead over Casey, with a margin of 0.6 percent. If the final difference remains at or below 0.5 percent, a recount will automatically be triggered under state law.
Following his controversial comment, Fetterman faced immediate criticism from tech mogul Elon Musk, who wrote, “Calling Green voters ‘dips***s’ is not a great way to win them over.”
Additionally, Daniel Bocic Martine, a Republican House candidate who recently lost his congressional bid, pointed out, “Those are your constituents you’re denigrating.”
