Harris laid into Trump about remarks he made about ex-Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), who has become one of her supporters.
On Friday, former President Trump addressed the backlash he received over his commentary about Cheney.
Trump clarified his statements on Truth Social, claiming, “All I’m saying about Liz Cheney is that she is a War Hawk, and a dumb one at that, but she wouldn’t have ‘the guts’ to fight herself,” Trump wrote.
“It’s easy for her to talk, sitting far from where the death scenes take place, but put a gun in her hand, and let her go fight, and she’ll say, ‘No thanks!’”
He went on to criticize Dick Cheney, Liz’s father, blaming him for Middle East devastation and profiting from it, stating, “He’s caused plenty of DEATH, and probably never even gave it a thought.”
During an interview with Tucker Carlson, Trump labeled Cheney a “radical war hawk,” implying she should be thrust into a combat zone with “nine barrels shooting at her.”
Critics pounced on Trump’s rhetoric towards Cheney, who has been campaigning alongside Harris, rather than her own party.
Vice President Kamala Harris blasted Trump for his comments, declaring them “disqualifying” for a person seeking to lead the country.
“This is disqualifying,” Harris commented in Wisconsin. “Anyone who wants to be president of the United States who uses that kind of violent rhetoric is clearly is disqualified and unqualified to be president.”
Harris praised Cheney as “a true patriot who has shown extraordinary courage in putting country above party.”
In contrast, Harris remarked that Trump “considers his political opponents the enemy and is permanently out for revenge and increasingly unstable and unhinged. His enemies list has grown longer.”
She noted, “His rhetoric has grown more extreme, and he is even less focused than before on the needs and the concerns and the challenges facing the American people.”
