Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) recently finds the support that former President Trump is receiving in the battleground state “astonishing.”

In a Saturday interview with the New York Times, Fetterman addressed the excitement surrounding Trump in Pennsylvania.

“There’s a difference between not understanding, but also acknowledging that it exists,”he explained. “And anybody who spends time driving around, and you can see the intensity. It’s astonishing.”

Recounting an event he attended in Indiana County, an area known for its strong Republican leanings, Fetterman described a “superstore” filled with a hundred feet of Trump memorabilia.

“Dozens of T-shirts and hats and bumper stickers and all kinds of, I mean, it’s like, Where does this all come from?” He questioned.

“It was almost like Taylor Swift kind of swag,” the Democrat lawmaker added. “It’s like, of everything. It wasn’t just a sign.”

“It’s the kind of thing that has taken on its own life,” he lamented. “And it’s like something very special exists there. And that doesn’t mean that I admire it. It’s just — it’s real.”

He also predicted that tech mogul Elon Musk’s backing of Trump is “going to really matter” to Pennsylvania voters.

“And now [Elon] Musk is joining him,” Fetterman noted. “I mean, to a lot of people, that’s Tony Stark. That’s the world’s richest guy. And he’s obviously, and undeniably, a brilliant guy, and he’s saying, Hey, that’s my guy for president. That’s going to really matter.”

The senator noted that he was “taken aback” by Musk’s presence on Trump’s campaign trail, suggesting Musk is a larger-than-life figure, a “bigger star than Trump” in some ways.

He concluded, saying, “It’s visceral,” and is why undecided voters are pondering their options for the next four years.

“I do believe enough people will choose Harris,” Fetterman added. “But it’s going to be much, much closer than anyone would want.”
