Donald Trump blasted President Joe Biden for saying that the former president needed to be imprisoned ahead of the upcoming election.

Trump issued a rebuke to Biden during a rally in battleground state Arizona on Thursday with less than two weeks remaining until Election Day.

“He blew it. He said ‘lock him up.’ He said ‘lock him up’ last night. He’s not allowed to say that! He’s such a stupid guy,” Trump remarked with a laugh. “Such a stupid fool.”

Biden made the remark at a campaign event in New Hampshire for Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday.

Biden had referenced Trump’s efforts to reduce the size of the Department of Education, before saying “we gotta lock him,” alluding to the federal 2020 election interference against Trump.

According to Biden, “thinks he has a right under the Supreme Court ruling on immunity to be able if need be, if it was the case, to actually eliminate, physically eliminate, shoot and kill, someone who he believes to be a threat to him.”

“I mean, so, I know this sounds bizarre. It sounds like if I said this five years ago, you’d lock me up. We gotta lock him up,” Biden remarked, before noticing his gaffe and course correcting with, “Politically lock him up.”

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre clarified to reporters on Wednesday that Biden’s intention was to “lock him out politically,” meaning make sure Harris wins the election.
