Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) reportedly defeated Democratic candidate Don Samuels by more than 15,000 votes in Tuesday’s primary.
With nearly 99% of the predicted votes counted, Omar received more than 67,500 votes, or approximately 56.2%.
Her main challenger garnered almost 51,500 votes, or approximately 42.9%.
Omar, who was reelected with 74% of the vote in 2022, will face Republican candidate Dalia al-Aqidi in the 2024 election.
This year, two members of the House progressive coalition known as “the Squad” lost their primaries to Democratic opponents.
In June, challenger George Latimer defeated Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), while earlier this month, Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) was defeated by challenger Wesley Bell.
Both were defeated in large part due to donations from pro-Jewish groups who were fed up the the Squad’s embrace of radical, anti-semitic talking points.
