Frank Luntz, a Republican pollster, stated that former President Trump has a “very, very narrow margin” over Vice President Harris, despite the fact that she has received a significant amount of support since announcing her candidacy.

“I would have predicted exactly one week ago today that Donald Trump essentially had the race sewed up. You can’t say that today,” Luntz said.

“He’s still a favorite by a very, very narrow margin,” he continued.

Luntz observed that Harris has experienced a “palpable, measurable honeymoon,” which has the potential to influence the election in her favor.

“There are key voter groups right now, young women who had been turned off by both candidates that are now absolutely excited, younger African Americans that were giving Donald Trump a look that they may be going back to the Democrats, which they voted for four decades,” he added.

On Sunday, President Biden suspended his reelection campaign and endorsed Harris, which resulted in a tumultuous week in politics. Within days, the vice president’s campaign broke records for donations from revitalized Democrats.

Luntz concluded that Harris’s entry into the race does not alter the fundamental parameters of the election; however, her candidacy does result in a more competitive contest than when it was Biden vs. Trump.
