The FBI has now reportedly declared that it has finally obtained access to the 20-year-old man’s phone in connection with his failed attempt to kill former President Donald Trump.

The FBI announced on Monday afternoon that it was currently reviewing the phone of Thomas Matthew Crook, the individual who fatally shot Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday.

Trump and two other rallygoers suffered injuries, while fifty-year-old Corey Comperatore lost his life during the attack.

Additionally, the bureau stated that it was still interviewing witnesses, event participants, and law enforcement officials after interviewing about 100 of them.

Citing examples of political bias at the FBI, several Republicans have expressed doubt about the bureau being tasked with leading the probe into the incident.

Given the FBI’s history of political bias, some Republicans have expressed doubts about the agency’s decision to take lead the shooting probe.

The writings of the transgender shooter who killed six people at the Christian school last year—three of them children—have so far been suppressed by the FBI.

Other Republican senators have questioned how the gunman was able to get access to a roof so close to where Trump was speaking, and they have called for probes into the way the Secret Service handled security for the rally.

In addition, Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of homeland security, has been ordered to produce documents outlining the security precautions that were taken in advance of Saturday’s event.
