In order to prevent illegal immigrants and other non-citizens from voting in elections, Idaho Governor Brad Little (R) reportedly signed the “Only Citizens Will Vote” Act into law on Tuesday.
Idaho Secretary of State Phil McGrane is required by the order to keep an eye on county voter rolls in order to prevent non-citizens from casting ballots.
“My executive order – the ONLY CITIZENS WILL VOTE Act – directs Secretary of State Phil McGrane to work with local county clerks to scrub our voter rolls and make sure Idaho’s elections do not fall prey to the consequences of Biden’s lawless open border,” Little announced in a statement.
Little stated that despite the fact that Idaho has safe elections already, the state intends to “keep it that way” as the situation of illegal immigration at the southern border worsens.
In accordance with the directive, McGrane will work with the Idaho State Police, the Idaho Transportation Department, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to “routinely” review the voter rolls in Idaho.
In a statement, Roy contended that Democrats oppose enforcement measures aimed at preventing non-citizens from voting because they do not want safe elections.
The bill has been vehemently opposed by President Joe Biden, who likely sees it as a potential threat to his re-election prospects.
