While he was watching Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s residence in Washington, DC, a would-be carjacker reportedly pulled a gun on him and a deputy US Marshal shot him in response, according to police.
The US Marshals Service stated that on July 5, around 1:15 a.m., Kentrell Flowers, 18, allegedly approached one of the two deputies’ cars that were parked outside Sotomayor’s home in northwest Washington, DC, and pointed a weapon at the bodyguard.
The guy was shot multiple times by a marshal who pulled out a gun in self defense.
According to authorities, the suspect was taken into custody and given non-life-threatening medical attention at a nearby hospital.
A semi-automatic handgun was found at the site and is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police.
Flowers faces charges of possessing a large capacity magazine, carrying a firearm without a license, and armed carjacking.
This carjacking in the nation’s capital is only the most recent in a string of high-profile incidents involving federal officers and VIPs.
