In the event that Vice President Harris declines to run for president and President Biden withdraws from the race, Lara Trump, the co-chair of the Republican National Committee, stated on Sunday that it would be against democratic principles for Democrats to select someone else to succeed him.

Following Biden’s dismal debate performance against her father-in-law last week, Trump—the former president’s daughter-in-law—told Fox Business presenter Maria Bartiromo that Democrats are in a “bad situation all around.”

Trump pointed out that Biden received more than enough party delegates to be the party’s presumed presidential nominee because millions of American people supported him in this year’s Democratic primary.

Joe Biden has said he’s not going anywhere. His campaign came out right after that debate and said not only is he not quitting, they have committed to do the debate in September as well, which is shocking to hear.” Lara Trump said on “Sunday Morning Futures.”

“But Kamala Harris polls just about as bad — if not worse in a lot of cases — than Joe Biden.” she continued.

“And so, they have a huge problem on their hands. If they remove Joe Biden from the ticket somehow and they do not have Kamala Harris as their nominee, and they try to plug someone else in, Maria, it is literally going against our democratic process here in this country,” she added.

Many Democrats expressed concern after Biden’s dismal showing during last week’s presidential debate.

Following the poor debate performance, several Democrats have called for the president to resign; however, no national leaders have officially endorsed these calls as of yet, and the Biden campaign has stated that the candidate will not be leaving.

Since he has already won the nomination, Biden cannot be removed from the 2024 race at the Democratic National Convention in August.

Delegates that Joe Biden gained are required by DNC rules to promise their support for his nomination unless Biden voluntarily decides to step aside.
