On Sunday, several climate protesters temporarily disrupted the PGA Tour’s Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut.

Social media video shows the activists running onto the 18th green and releasing a crimson or white powdered material as players watched.

According to images from the event, several of the demonstrators wore a white shirt that proclaimed “NO GOLF ON A DEAD PLANET.”

Extinction Rebellion, a climate group, asserted credit for the incident.

Cromwell police reported that each protester was charged with first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree criminal trespass, and breach of peace.

The protestors were released on a $5,000 bail and are set to appear in court on July 1.

The PGA Tour stated that the substance was removed with no damage to the green and praised Cromwell police for their prompt and effective action.

Climate activists have made news for vandalizing monuments, works of art, and other public spaces around the world.

Last week, anti-fossil fuel demonstrators spray-painted Stonehenge in the United Kingdom with orange material.
