Donald Trump recently told Fox News that he’s prepared to serve jail time. The former president made the statement after a DA who campaigned on going after Trump and a judge who donated money against the former president’s reelection allegedly steered a jury to a guilty verdict on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.

“I’m OK with it,” Trump told Fox News in an interview that aired Sunday when asked about the potential punishments. “I saw one of my lawyers the other day on television saying, ‘Oh no, you don’t want to do that to the president.’ I said: You don’t beg for anything.”

But, Trump added, “I don’t think the public would stand it. I’m not sure the public would stand for it.”

“I think it would be tough for the public to take, you know, at a certain point, there’s a breaking point,” Trump said.

While many have claimed that putting a former president in jail would be difficult, one of Trump’s old nemeses, James Comey, joined NBC News to explain how it could be done. The Hill reports that the former FBI leader thinks that handling Trump’s imprisonment would not be as complicated as it’s been portrayed.

In an interview on “Inside with Jen Psaki” on Sunday, Comey was asked about some of the public’s concerns about the logistical challenges that may arise if law enforcement institutions try to imprison Trump — who was convicted this past week on 34 felony counts of falsifying false business records to cover up a scheme to conceal potentially damaging information before the 2016 presidential election.

“No,” Comey said about whether he agrees with those concerns.

“They would just put him in a double wide, somewhere out near the fence, out in the grass. And he would eat there. He’d shower there, he’d exercise there, he’d be away, as Danya Perry said, from general population,” Comey continued, citing the attorney of Trump’s former fixer, Michael Cohen, who served time for related crimes.

“But it’s obviously doable,” Comey added.

Comey also claimed that he believes Trump should get jail time, saying that he’s “never seen a defendant beg for it more.”

Democrats have been planning to jail Donald Trump for months. In April, New Conservative Post reported that House Democrats have been working on a bill to strip the former president and frontrunner in the 2024 election of his Secret Service protection.
