Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) urged Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to advance bipartisan legislation to sanction the International Criminal Court (ICC) following the prosecutor’s announcement on Monday that he is seeking arrest warrants for Israeli leaders.

On Monday, Graham issued a statement on the social platform X that commended Schumer for his condemnation of the ICC’s action. However, he also urged for additional measures to prevent the court from issuing future threats.

“I completely agree with Senator Schumer’s strong condemnation of the ICC’s action against Israel today. However, it is now time to follow strong words with strong deeds.” Graham posted.

“It is imperative that the Senate, in a bipartisan way, comes up with crippling sanctions against the ICC. Not only to support Israel but to deter any future action against American personnel.” he continued.

“The ICC threatened to come after Americans once. This farce at the ICC needs to end,” Graham concluded.

ICC prosecutor Karim Khan announced on Monday that he is pursuing arrest warrants for Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and three Hamas officials for what he has determined to be war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the Gaza conflict.

The announcement was greeted with widespread condemnation from the leaders of both parties on Monday.
