A Republican senator stated on Thursday that the GOP-led House should impeach President Joe Biden for suggesting that the United States could cease arms shipments to Israel if it conducts a full-scale ground operation in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) presented an argument against Biden by citing the initial impeachment investigation into former President Donald Trump, which pertained to the postponement of security assistance to Ukraine during his administration in exchange for a “favor” from the country’s leader prior to the 2020 presidential election.
“The House has no choice but to impeach Biden based on the Trump-Ukraine precedent of withholding foreign aid to help with reelection. Only with Biden, it’s true,” Cotton posted on his social media account.

As he vies with Trump for a second term in the White House, Biden is under immense pressure from the Democratic Party’s left faction to be more critical of Israel regarding its conflict with Hamas in the Gaza Straight.
Biden stated during a CNN town hall on Wednesday that he “made it clear” to Israel that the United States will not supply artillery shells and weapons to the Israeli government if the country conducts a major ground operation in Rafah.
