President Biden’s age was the subject of New York Times coverage that, according to the newspaper’s publisher, A.G. Sulzberger, has extremely upset the White House.
Sulzberger stated in a Monday interview with The Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism that regarding the 2024 election, The Times and other media entities run the risk of leaning toward two opposing coverage extremes.
“We are going to continue to report fully and fairly, not just on Donald Trump but also on President Joe Biden. He is a historically unpopular incumbent and the oldest man to ever hold this office. We’ve reported on both of those realities extensively, and the White House has been extremely upset about it.” he said.
Sulzberger emphasized that this does not mean that concerns regarding Biden’s age are equivalent to the legal issues faced by Trump.

Times columnist Ezra Klein urged Biden to withdraw his reelection campaign last week.
Klein is not the first Times employee to demand Biden’s resignation; last week, opinion columnist Ross Douthat also issued a similar request.
