Sen. Joe Manchin (D-West Virginia) announced on Friday in a speech at West Virginia University that he will not run for president in 2024.
The significance of the matter: The declaration puts an end to months of speculation regarding whether the Democrat from West Virginia would run as a third party candidate for the White House.
He stated that he did not wish to spoil Biden’s upcoming rematch with Trump.
“I just don’t think it’s the right time. Democracy is at stake right now.” Manchin said.
