Last weekend, in the vicinity of Times Square, two officers of the New York Police Department were assaulted by a mob of illegal immigrants; video footage shows the officers struggling with the perpetrators on the ground.

Saturday at 8:30 p.m., the officers directed the group of unlawful immigrants loitering in the street to proceed.

The two officers were attacked by a gang of unlawful immigrants, according to a fight that ensued shortly thereafter, as reported by The New York Post.

The officers are captured on video footage, which was released by the NYPD, attempting to apprehend an unlawful immigrant while others kick and punch the officers in the head.

The Post reported that four unauthorized immigrants were apprehended and identified as follows: Darwin Andres Gomez Izquiel, 19, Kelvin Servat Arocha, 19, Juarez Wilson, 21, and Yorman Reveron, 24.

Assault charges reportedly led to the release without bond of all four defendants. Monday night, according to police sources, a fifth suspect was apprehended and charged with attempted assault on a police officer.

Treatment of the two officers at the scene for minor injuries, including facial lacerations and body contusions, was administered. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office stated that it is conducting an investigation into the incident and examining the footage.

Reveron, one of the unauthorized immigrants who were released without bond, is additionally charged with assault and robbery.

At this time, New York City is grappling with the management of tens of thousands of unauthorized immigrants who have entered the city in the past two years by exploiting the permissive border policies of President Joe Biden.
